Engineering Vacancies - Renfrewshire

McGill's is Scotland's largest independent bus company, with depots across Greenock, Inchinnan, Johnstone, Coatbridge and Barrhead, and, we're looking to recruit Engineering Managers, Supervisors as well as a Procurement/Supply Chain Manager.

With a fleet of over 400 vehicles, the engineering department is a 7 day a week operation. We have invested over £10m in new buses, equipment and technology in recent years - meaning you get to work with state of the art equipment as well as a diverse range of vehicles.

The Team

Each depot has a full maintenance facility and we have two paint and body shops within the business. Our standards are uncompromising - our on-street vehicle presentation is amongst the best in the UK. These roles are an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-moving quality driven environment, with great pay and career prospects. You will hold the correct qualifications and experience for the role, but attitude is much more important than a polished CV.

The Roles

Engineering Foreman

Main responsibilities:
  • Supervise all aspects of the engineering workshop
  • Ensure all road safety and health and safety standards are satisfied
  • Ensure the highest levels of vehicle reliability are achieved
  • Manage the manpower resource to ensure staff are available when required
  • Ensuring that all Quality Standards are achieved and that best practice and efficiency are maintained
Engineering Manager

Main responsibilities:
  • Overall management of the engineering workshop
  • Responsibility for facilities management of your depot
  • Manage the DVSA agreed vehicle inspection programme
  • Manage the DVSA MOT inspection programme to achieve 100% success rate
  • Manage and maintain all record keeping to the company standard
  • Work closely with your main customer - the operations department - to provide daily vehicle requirements
  • Effectively manage the statutory and legislative compliance for your location
Procurement/Supply Chain Manager

Main responsibilities:
  • To manage the supply chain for all procurement
  • To ensure that value for money is achieved
  • To ensure that the supply chain ensures maximum vehicle availability
  • To maintain industry-leading pick rates and stock values
  • To manage and maintain inventories and record keeping to best practise norms
  • To work closely with our main supplier base to minimise wastage and inefficiency
  • Effectively manage the statutory and legislative compliance for your department
