ROSCO, (Road Operators’ Safety Council), an organisation founded by road transport employers and trade unions, launched the ROSCO Safe Driving Awards scheme in 1955. This award scheme provides an opportunity to recognise excellence and encourage safe driving amongst UK bus operators and their drivers. The Safe Driving Awards scheme currently attracts over 50,000 drivers representing over 100 companies.

Chairman of the Road Operators’ Safety Council, John Miller, has welcomed the membership of McGill’s Group. John said:

“We are delighted that McGill’s have joined the long-standing and reputable safe driving scheme provided by ROSCO. Even today, with busier roads, and technological assistance, having a certificate to show an individuals’ commitment to safe driving is still a highly prized achievement. Surveys of our membership have shown that being in the scheme improves staff morale and retention, reduces accidents and incidents, and can form a key part of a companywide commitment to safe bus ridership and operation.”

David Lees, McGill’s Group Fleet Risk Manager & Data Protection Officer, said:

“McGill’s Group is proud and excited to have joined ROSCO, the industry recognised body helping to ensure a professional approach to improving safety, through driver values and standards. This will underscore our commitment to promote & encourage UK road safety whilst supporting and recognising our employees.”

All eligible McGill’s drivers have been enrolled into the 2024 Safe Driving Awards scheme. To be eligible drivers must have been employed on 1st January 2024 and drive a minimum of 16 hours per week.
